The General Lines Insurance Claims Assistant supports the claims department by managing administrative tasks and assisting claims adjusters and representatives with processing general lines insurance claims (including property, casualty, auto, and liability). The role ensures timely, accurate, and customer-focused service to policyholders, claimants, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with intake and setup of new claims in the system.
- Collect, review, and organize documentation related to insurance claims (e.g., incident reports, photos, estimates).
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding claim status and required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of claim files and correspondence.
- Schedule appointments, inspections, or follow-ups for claims adjusters.
- Support claims adjusters by preparing reports and summaries as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate professionally with policyholders, agents, vendors, and third-party service providers.
- Perform general administrative duties including data entry, document management, and mail handling.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in an insurance or customer service environment (claims experience a plus).
- Familiarity with general lines of insurance (property, casualty, auto, liability) preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and claims management systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
- Customer service orientation and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of insurance claims processes and terminology.
- Experience with industry-standard claims software (e.g., Guidewire, Xactimate).
