The Design and Estimation Engineer for Fire Fighting Systems is responsible for designing and estimating the requirements for fire fighting systems, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and delivering cost-effective solutions for projects. This role involves working on system design, drafting, preparing estimates for materials and labor, and providing technical support during the execution phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design & Drafting:
Design fire fighting systems including wet and dry systems, fire hydrant, sprinkler systems, CO2 suppression, foam systems, etc., in compliance with relevant codes and standards (NFPA, Local fire safety regulations).
Produce detailed technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for fire protection systems.
Use AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software to create accurate designs and ensure proper integration with other building services. Review and evaluate site conditions and consult with clients to understand project-specific needs. - Estimation and Costing:
Prepare detailed estimates for fire fighting systems, including materials, labor, and equipment.
Perform quantity take-offs from drawings, and assess the scope of work to calculate material and resource requirements. Work with procurement teams to evaluate suppliers and ensure competitive pricing.
Provide accurate and timely cost analysis reports, considering any potential risks or changes during project execution.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical , Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field. - Professional Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the design and estimation of fire fighting systems.
Experience working with fire protection codes (NFPA, BS, etc.) and local regulations.
Familiarity with fire safety systems such as sprinkler systems, hydrants, fire alarm systems, CO2 suppression systems, etc. - Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
Strong knowledge of fire fighting system design principles, codes, and standards.
Experience in using estimation software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, Tendering Software).
Desirable:
- Certification in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge of international fire safety standards and regulations.
- Previous experience working with large-scale fire protection projects.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with possible site visits.
- Occasional overtime based on project requirements.
